In this case, you should be able to stand your ground and never bow down. Instead, exert your dominance by hiding the bowl and producing it only after your dog calms down.
Eventually, he will realize that nothing goes the way he wants it and that you are always the master of the food.
There are also other factors why your dog becomes too possessive with food. The fact that he comes from a huge litter of puppies should explain the current mindset he has about food.
Competition is always there, especially when it’s feeding time. Puppies would scramble for the nearest dog teat, and they will try their best to push their brother or sister away so they can get fed.
Apparently, this is something you should sort out early on, otherwise the habit will be transferred to other things such as toys and balls.
One thing always works when it comes to controlling an aggressive dog is that you should always control the food you give him. And of course, this means avoiding yourself from spoiling him to the point of being dependent and expectant. Dog treat training.

Give batches of food on the bowl and he will instinctively sense that there are rules when it comes to food – just like in a real wolf pack!
